The Takeuchi Laboratory welcomes new members with interests in angiosperms, sexual reproduction, pollen tubes, fertilization, embryogenesis, cell-to-cell communication, receptor signaling, chromosomes, centromeres, genome editing, live imaging, and biotechnology.

Even if your background does not perfectly align with these keywords, we are happy to support individuals who bring original ideas and scientific imagination—especially those who are eager to pursue fundamental biological principles through plant-based research grounded in logic and curiosity.

We especially welcome those who wish to explore and expand on the central themes of our lab—focusing on the mechanisms that underpin the success and evolution of plants. Whether you aim to deepen your own interests and expertise through related topics, or wish to develop a broad foundation that goes beyond traditional boundaries of biology and plant science, you will find a supportive environment here.

Our lab emphasizes logical thinking, the ability to put ideas into action through experimentation, and above all, the nurturing of individual creativity. We are committed to fostering a research and educational environment where you can experience the true joy of science—sharing your own discoveries with the world.

Opportunities for Undergraduate and Graduate Students

Undergraduate students can join the lab for their graduation research by selecting the Department of Integrated Sciences in the latter half of the undergraduate program at the College of Arts and Sciences, The University of Tokyo.

We also welcome students who are simply interested in experiencing plant biology or reproductive science. Depending on the situation and individual preferences, part-time research assistant positions may be available.

Recruiting Technical Staff, Master’s Graduates, and Postdoctoral Researchers

We are currently recruiting technical assistants and master’s-level researchers (post-master’s positions).
Employment can be arranged as part-time or full-time, depending on budget availability. If you are interested in joining our team, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

We are especially looking for individuals who meet one or more of the following descriptions:

  • You are skilled in data analysis
  • You enjoy working with plants and flowers
  • You like hands-on lab work in molecular biology
  • You have a passion for microscopy and imaging

For those interested in joining the lab as a postdoctoral researcher, we strongly encourage and fully support applications for the JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowship (PD).
Depending on the funding situation, paid positions supported by lab research grants may also be available.

We especially welcome individuals who are eager to explore their ideas freely in a young and growing lab, and who would enjoy helping to shape the lab environment together with us.
If you’re interested, please feel free to get in touch.
